The Racing Foundation was set up in 2012 with an endowment of £78 million from the net proceeds of the UK government’s sale of the Tote, with the principle aim of supporting charitable purposes associated with the horseracing and Thoroughbred breeding industry. It does this by investing funds to generate investment income and using the income to make grants to appropriate charities.
Since its inception, the Racing Foundation has played a pivotal role in being a catalyst for positive change across the sport and creating lasting legacies having awarded over £38m in grants across four key areas: people, equine welfare, community engagement and environment & emerging issues.
After an internal promotion we now have a vacancy for a Grants Manager, who will be responsible for the ongoing strategic and operational delivery of a grants programme that facilitates the delivery of our strategy. This pivotal role involves engaging with and attracting suitable grantees and projects to further our ambitions, as well as working closely with other funders. This is both a pro-active and re-active role, which includes managing and administering a range of grant programmes, reporting processes and impact measures. It will also involve representing the Racing Foundation in stakeholder meetings to identify new grant-making opportunities and also on steering groups for projects we are funding.
The role holder will be able to engage with a variety of audiences, build strong relationships and positively influence outcomes. There will be plenty of opportunity to travel and meet our beneficiaries with excellent exposure to the whole of the horseracing industry.
The Grants Manager will be responsible for delivering a range of established grant programmes and associated administration; for developing relationships with grant-holders and racing industry stakeholders; and for designing and implementing impact measurement processes.
Location: Home based with some travel to London and other parts of the UK as required for engagement with grant-holders. Travel to attend Racing Foundation and industry meetings, as well as to meet up with the executive team and line manager, will be required.
Remuneration: £40,000 – £50,000 base salary to reflect experience plus excellent benefits.
Hours: Full-time hours (35 per week) plus occasional requirement to work outside of ‘normal office hours’.
The Racing Foundation wants to attract the best people from the widest talent pool that reflects the diverse nature of our society. We are committed to creating a diverse environment within our organisation and across our sport.
Closing Date: Friday 18th August 2023
